Join local artists and community residents and help install one of two murals in the Ella Fitzgerald Park. Buckets of tiles are ready for residents to mosaic the community designed and inspired murals that capture Fitzgerald's strength, spirit, and history. Help install the mural, visit with neighbors, and celebrate summer and art in the park!
Volunteer certificates will be distributed to those who help build the mural. Please be sure to sign in for a certificate.

Fitzgerald Fun Day and Health Fair – August 19th, 12-3pm

Join us for a fun day and health fair in Fitzgerald on Saturday, August 19th from noon to 3pm! There will be painting classes, face painting, free bike repair, music, yoga, a book giveaway and a presentation of the Ella Fitzgerald Mural by artist Hubert Massey. As part of the healthy living activities, the following local organizations and companies will attend: Eastern Market, Nirvana tea, Grindtime Fitness, Dr. Suezette Olaker, Detroit Food Policy Council and Karmanos.

The event features Hubert Massey, a local Detroit artist, who has been working with the community to design a mosaic mural for the new Ella Fitzgerald Park. Hubert will present a full-scale mock-up of the mural. We need the voice of youth for the future Ella Fitzgerald Park! We invite youth and residents to share their feedback on Hubert's design.

All events are free and open to the public. Family friendly. Children must be supervised by an adult.

Fitzgerald Outdoor Activity Day and Park Artwork Design – June 17th, 12-3pm

Join us for an outdoor activity day in Fitzgerald on Saturday, June 17th from noon to 3pm! There will be face painting, art (with Canvas X Detroit), volleyball, free bike repair (with Back Alley Bikes), board games, yoga from 2-3pm (with Yoganic Flow), food, and music!

The event features Hubert Massey, a local Detroit artist, who will be working with the community to design a mosaic mural for the new Ella Fitzgerald Park. We need the voice of youth for the future Ella Fitzgerald Park! We invite youth and residents to come share their ideas with Hubert from 1-2pm.

As part of the new park being designed in the Fitzgerald neighborhood, The City of Detroit and partners are working with Detroit artist Hubert Massey to create a public art installation with the community. We would love to have your input and participation in the project. The process will begin with a kickoff to brainstorm ideas, then a feedback session, followed by implementation in the fall. Children are encouraged to attend!

Snacks will be provided.

We will begin at Detroit Sip and may walk to the future site of the park at Prairie and Grove Streets.
