FitzForward, comprised of Century Partners and The Platform, was selected as the finalist for the Fitzgerald RFP and will lead revitalization efforts in Fitzgerald. Mayor Duggan, City Planning Director Maurice Cox, City Housing and Rehabilitation Director Arthur Jemison and Council President Pro-Tem George Cushingberry Jr. spoke at a ground breaking event in the Fitzgerald neighborhood Wednesday, April 5, 2017. They all welcomed the revitalization efforts, the community’s vision and planning, and the continued collaborative neighborhood approach. In 2017, Detroit’s City Council and land bank approved the transfer of land of 50 parcels for the Ella Fitzgerald Park to the Parks and Recreation Department, and 323 parcels to the developer for housing revitalization, and productive landscape development on blighted and vacant lots. Implementation of vacant land strategies will commence in 2018.
RFP finalist presentations and resumes can be found at the links above. These were presented to the community in the fall of 2016 to seek community input on the finalist selection. Over 130 residents, community organizations, and local stakeholders attended the public presentation to share their feedback and ask important questions of the finalists alongside a panel of city and neighborhood representatives, and planning professionals.
